Akron Akromatic® Automatic
Fire fighting Nozzles
| Effective January 1, 2002 Akron is discontinuing all automatic handline
nozzles. The following statement appears in their new 2002 Akron Brass
Price Guide.
"Over 25 years ago the automatic nozzle was invented to maintain reach when water supplies were reduced. This was accomplished by squeezing off the flow in order to build pressure. 25 years ago you were willing to trade flow for reach because you didn't have a good option. Today, with Akron's recent technological advancements in Turbojet®, AssaultTM and SaberJetTM nozzles, you no longer have to sacrifice flow to achieve adequate reach. Due to the stream quality and higher flows at reduced pressures provided by Akron nozzles, flow restricting (automatic) nozzles have become nozzles of the past. Therefore, efective January 1, 2002, Akron Brass will discontinue the production of our automatic handline nozzles. Note: Akron Brass will continue to provide parts and service for customers currently using Akron automatic handline nozzles." |
