Hand-crafted leather molded with fiberglass core The American Heritage™ fire helmet is a traditional style leather fire fighter helmet that combines time honored styling and craftsmanship with state-of- the-art advancements in design, leather tanning, and composites. The result is a low-profile leather helmet that is attractive, durable, and comfortable.

American Heritage™ exclusive features:

• Color won't chip
  Leather offers excellent thermal protection and durability, but not all leather helmets are equal. This leather is processed with the latest chromium tanning techniques. This seals the protective qualities and provides optimum heat reflection. By coloring the helmets during the tanning process, there's no paint to chip.
   
• Fiberglass inner layer provides strength
  The American Heritage™ offers additional protection through the exclusive LeatherGlas molding process. This process molds the outer and inner layers of the leather shell with a fiberglass composite to deliver outstanding protection during extreme conditions. The leather's not just a skin, it'schemically bonded to the fiberglass core.
   
•  Unique size and fit adjustment options
  They've engineered a complete system of adjustments into the American Heritage to provide maximum comfort and a custom fit. The patented Center of Gravity™ adjustment system allows you to adjust the center of gravity to your preference and keeps it there. The ratcheting headband easily adjusts from size 5½ to 9½ and their are three positions for height adjustment.
  
  The American Heritage's™ headband is also cushioned with foam and covered with sleeve leather for additional comfort.. With the American Heritage™, you're fighting the fire, not your helmet.
   
• High temperature face shield
  A lightweight 4" APEC high temperature face shield with thumbwheel adjustment is standard on the American Heritage™. Goggles certified to meet NFPA 1971, 2000 edition are available, as are non-NFPA compliant flip downs in combination with NFPA compliant goggles.

• Chin strap
  Easy-to-adjust, quick-release chin strap with postman's slide.
   
• Ear covers
  NOMEX™/flannel ear covers for added neck/ear protection. Other materials available upon request as replacement parts.
   
• Shield holder
  Hand-carved brass eagle leather shield holder.
   
• Reflective trim
  2" x 2½" Lime/Yellow 3M Scotchlite™ reflective material. This offers superior heat resistance and delivers higher performance than competitive reflective materials.
